Auratus Cichlid

The Auratus Cichlid, scientifically known as Melanochromis auratus, is a freshwater fish native to Lake Malawi in Africa. It's known for its vibrant colors and aggressive temperament. Juveniles and females display a golden yellow base with black horizontal stripes, while dominant males transition to a dark brown or black body with light blue or yellow stripes. These fish are relatively easy to care for but require a large tank and careful consideration of tankmates due to their territorial nature.
