Uses
- Aquarium: When properly prepared, bell cups release a moderate amount of tannins, promote biofilm, and provide unique hiding spots and spawning sites for fish and shrimp. These are sturdy pods — remove any softened fruit pulp after boiling, especially in smaller aquariums.
- Bioactive Terrarium: Provides hiding spots and a food source for isopods and springtails, and makes excellent hides for small reptiles and amphibians such as dart frogs. Some bell cups can hold water, and they can even be mounted to a vivarium background and used as a planter for small plants.
- Botanical Home Decor: Perfect as standalone decorative pieces, bowl fillers, or integrated into natural arrangements and potpourri.

Aquarium Preparation
- Boil: Boil for at least 30 minutes to help them sink and leach initial tannins. Remove any softened fruit pulp after boiling.
- Soak: Soak in clean water overnight or longer, changing water daily, until fully waterlogged and desired tannin level is reached.
- Ready to Use: Once they sink and you've achieved your desired water coloration, add to your setup.
