Egyptian Jackal Dummy Canopic Jar

A beautiful example of an Egyptian 'dummy' canopic jar. This type of jar is too small to be a functional canopic jar and was used symbolically during the Third Intermediate Period and later, when new embalming methods developed and organ removal was no longer required for mummification. 

There is a minor chip in one of the ears, shown in the pictures.
